Cycling holiday in the Wildschönau
mit E-Bike oder Mountainbike die Gegend erkunden
The Wildschönau is a wonderful place to explore by bike. This requires either strong calves or an electric motor. The impressive mountain panorama offers top-class enjoyment of nature for all skill levels: Ambitious mountain bikers experience adrenaline-fuelled rides from valley to valley on the bike swing, while leisure cyclists get their money's worth on moderate e-bike tours. To be honest, it has to be said that you have seen fewer bikes without e-motor support in recent times.
Our Gasthof Hotel Schöntal has been recognised as a bike-friendly establishment.
We endeavour to provide all cycling enthusiasts with good service and a pleasant stay and to cater to the special needs of cycling holidaymakers.

Tips for bike tours
starting from the Hotel Schöntal
- Direction Oberau - turn right towards Mühltal and then to Schönangeralm. Duration approx. 45 min. Homewards towards Auffach and at the Spar below the Schatzberg cable car a few minutes uphill towards Schrattental. From there through the forest to Roggenboden.
- From Schöntal in the direction of Borstad'l. It takes about 20 minutes and then you can decide whether to head towards Achentalalm or take the path of songs towards Oberau. You could also go via the Zauberwinkel.
- Head towards Foischinghof and left downhill to Ebersau. From there, head towards Mühltal and Kundler Klamm. Once in Kundl, take the gravel path towards Achentalalm and then back to Gasthof Schöntal (only possible in the morning).
- One of my favourite tours is towards Oberau, then left to Tirolerhof, from there towards Holzalm. At the end of the path you have to push your bike up a hill for 5 minutes. Once at the top (approx. 60 min) you should treat yourself to a snack. Then you can choose again, either ride towards Niederau or to the Käsealm, then back towards Oberau.
- A quick route before breakfast
Towards Niederau to the Franziskusweg and the Z'Bach Farmers' Museum, then right towards Zauberwinkel and left at the fork to get back to Oberau. Duration approx. 35 min. - Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
